Law,
Justice and Political Thought is a program of scholarship and education
within the Department of Political Science at Ohio University.
Faculty members in the fields of law and political theory study topics
as diverse as public ethics, gay and lesbian politics, popular culture,
surveillance and privacy, and feminist theory. At the core of these
endeavors is a unifying interest in exploring, explaining, and interrogating
the construction of legal and political meaning. Whether the subject
is a 19th century court case, a 20th century
protest movement, or a 21st century police drama, each
scholar’s work turns on exploring the ways in which authoritative
meanings are asserted, challenged and understood in the give
and take
of legal institutions and political culture.
