Research Prominence

Law, Justice and Political Thought serves as the primary organization and focal point for faculty research and collaboration in law and political thought.   Strengthening collaboration and building interdisciplinary networks enhances the intellectual workplace for program scholars while the increased visibility achieved by combining the strengths of our individual scholarship positions Ohio University as one of the leading centers for research of this type.   LJPT’s already strong relationships with the Women’s Studies Department, the Honors Tutorial College, and the faculty in Sociology-Criminology, provide a framework to begin a broader engagement on the Athens campus.  The faculty’s participation and leadership in national and international scholarly organizations like the American Political Science Association and the Law and Society Association has set the foundation for a national prominence which will grow as the collaborative project asserts its identity at professional meetings and expands the visibility of Ohio University through LJPT speaker series and mini-conferences.
