Garry Trudeau
Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau launched his famed comic strip in
1970. Appearing in nearly 1400 newspapers in the U.S. and abroad, his work has been
collected in nearly 60 editions, cumulatively selling over 7 million copies
worldwide. In 1975, Trudeau became the first comic strip artist to be awarded a
Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning. He has also won awards for the
animated film "A Doonesbury Special," the
Broadway musical, "Doonesbury," and
the HBO series "Tanner '88," a
satirical look at that year's presidential campaign.A fellow of the American
Academy of Arts and
Sciences, Trudeau has contributed to Rolling Stone
and The New Yorker,
among others, and is currently a contributor to Time magazine. He
lives in New York City
with his wife, Jane Pauley, and their three children.
