AIDC Technical Institute Details
The Automatic Identification and Data Capture Technical Institute (AIDCTI) is a week long educational event that allows college and university professors as well as technical and business professionals to learn about AIDC technologies and their applications. Institute participants represent a variety of disciplines including AIDC products and services, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, merchandising, engineering, and the Department of Defense.
The Institute includes classroom and hands-on lab time dedicated to all of the major AIDC technologies. Bar coding and Radio Frequency Identification are emphasized, and this year we will also focus on UID as well. Other course content looks at technologies such as biometrics, card technology, and contact memory applications. AIDCTI participants use classroom theory in hands-on lab sessions dedicated to each AIDC technology. Labs include supply chain challenges that employ both bar coding and RFID at various levels of packaging; accessing control to secured areas using biometrics data capture; assigning “report cards” to bar code symbols based on their measured quality; and gaining a hands-on familiarity with tools from an array of service and equipment providers.
AIDCTI participants leave with an increased understanding of and familiarity with the latest AIDC technologies. They also leave with confidence in their use of state of the art equipment. As a result, they are able to apply their newfound knowledge in classrooms or business environments.
