Managerial Essentials (ME) is a program for individuals who want to enhance their skills and competencies as managers.
The program will examine leadership from an operational perspective, while enhancing managerial skills. Managerial Essentials sessions will target one major management issue per session, and are intended to deliver practical, "nuts and bolts" information that better prepares managers to be effective and efficient in their professional roles. Sessions are three-and-a-half hours in duration to include interactive segments, theoretical discussions, and applications.
The program will consist of a cohort of 12-48 individuals who will progress through the program together examining managerial issues they currently face, or anticipate facing in the future. The twelve program sessions will be presented by subject matter experts from the Ohio University community. Managers will meet colleagues from different parts of Ohio, Hocking College, non-profit organizations who rely on public funding, and Athens City and County employees to gain new perspectives while learning from each other.
Completion of the program will earn a Managerial Essentials Professional Development Certificate of Completion provided by Ohio Human Resources. A small number of seats will be held in each session for participants who cannot commit to the program, but want to attend particular individual sessions.
