Diversity Essentials

The Ohio University Office for Diversity and Inclusion with UHR Leadership and Staff Development would like to announce their joint initiative: Diversity Essentials. Diversity Essentials is offered once each semester and includes a new cohort consisting of members from the community, city, and select university units.

The program is designed with four three-hour sessions held each semester with two or three university units, employees of the City of Athens or Athens County, and community members to complete the full cohort. The Diversity Essentials participant engage in an interactive environment including hands-on exercises, small group discussions, and facilitated large group discussions to share and explore ideas and concepts regarding diversity, increased awareness, and inclusion. The four sessions will be facilitated by three-member teams with experience and education in various areas to round-out the development experience.

Your participation and support in this initiative is key to the success of this program and the improvement of our community culture. The goal of Diversity Essentials is to promote an open and diverse culture that increases awareness and understanding in the university and surrounding community through interactive professional development sessions.

Please contact Stephanie Sanders at 593-0006 or sanders1@ohio.edu to participate in this learning, development, and networking experience.
