Student Growth Measures Mini-Grant Program for Extended Value-Added Testing

As of the report date, the Ohio Department of Education does not test all grades and all subject matters in Local Education Agencies (LEA). To improve school accountability and effectiveness, the Mini-Grant project studied implementation of extended testing in a small group of LEAs. During the 2011‐13 academic years, 81 of Ohio's LEA's received mini‐grants to implement extended testing and receive value‐added data in selected grades and content areas not covered by the Ohio Achievement Assessments. An Ohio Education Research Center team developed a two year research plan to evaluate the following broad areas regarding Year 1 (Round 1) and Year 2 (Round 2) mini‐grant recipients: 1) Implementation 2) Roster Verification 3) Educator Evaluation Systems 4) Best Practices and Lessons Learned.
