Johnson recognized in new article for work as AEP watershed research professor

Dr. Kelly Johnson, associate professor of biological sciences and Ohio University’s AEP Watershed Research Professor through the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs, and her achievements were highlighted in Ohio University’s Ohio Today.

The AEP Watershed Research Professor is a position awarded to those who encourage high levels of scholarly activity combined with real-world problem solving involving the restoration of our region’s watersheds. Johnson has held the position for over 10 years and is part of the University’s multidisciplinary Appalachian Watershed Research Group.

“Johnson developed quick and affordable protocols for long-term assessments of waterways once biologically dead from the effects of acid mine drainage, training and deploying Ohio University students to conduct the ongoing evaluations” the article reads.
