Why do you want to be an OHIO First Scholars Advocate?
I began my college career at Ohio University in Lancaster and relocated to the Athens Campus during my second year. I didn't know anyone, I had no frame of reference for the college environment, and while my mom supported me she had no idea how to help and sometimes didn't understand what I was going through. I also felt like I was surrounded by students who had it all figured out and, at times, I felt alone. From that experience I am committed to work with first generation students so they know there is someone on campus who understands what they are going through and that they don't have to walk the path alone. Being the first in your family is overwhelming but if you have the right support you can do great things.
