Limited Submission Opportunities
Limited Submissions are funding opportunities in which the sponsor only allows a specific and limited number of proposals from a given institution. Additional submissions can result in rejection of all proposals submitted by that institution or an approved application being replaced by a later, unapproved, submission.
Limited submission opportunities are managed by the Office of Research Development (RD). You must notify RD at researchdev@ohio.edu as soon as you decide to apply for a proposal that limits the number of institutional submissions. Interested faculty or staff should include the following information in the email:
- Intent to apply for the program
- Statement verifying eligibility to serve as a PI
- The sponsor and name of the opportunity
- Brief description of the project
- URL for the program announcement/solicitation
The Office of Research Development will review the request and respond to the applicant within 1-2 working days. The process to determine the institutional applicant is as follows:
- If there are fewer than 6 weeks until the deadline, subject to review to ensure the PI meets eligibility criteria, the applicant will be designated on a first-come, first-served basis.
- If there are more than 6 weeks until the deadline, the Office of Research Development will establish an internal deadline and post the opportunity and a limited submission competition will be held to determine the institutional applicant. If no other intents are received by the internal deadline, the single intent will be designated the nominee. If multiple intents are received, the Office of Research Development will organize an internal review. All limited submission competitions will be posted on InfoReady.
