The Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE), Government of Malaysia and Ohio University (OHIO), Athens, Ohio, United States of America (United States) invite applications for the Distinguished Tun Abdul Razak Chair (TARC) to begin in July 2020. Named in honor of the second Prime Minister of Malaysia and established in 1979, the Tun Abdul Razak Chair at Ohio University is the only one of its kind in the United States. This distinguished position aims to advance greater knowledge and awareness of Malaysia’s history, culture, economic, social and political life and advancements in research, creative activity and innovation across the disciplines in the United States and internationally.
The TARC creates the opportunity for a Malaysian scholar to join the faculty community in their discipline at OHIO for up to two years to teach, do research and contribute to outreach and networking activities in their area of expertise. In the past four decades, serving as the intellectual envoy of Malaysia to the United States, 15 TARCs have contributed to strengthening partnerships between the two countries, educating students, hosting symposium and conferences and fostering new interests on the part of faculty at OHIO and other US universities to pursue collaborations with faculty in Malaysia.
