Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award winner Percival Everett to visit OHIO Oct. 12

Percival Everett, acclaimed author of more than 30 books, will be visiting Ohio University on Monday, Oct. 12, as part of the Ohio University Libraries’ visiting authors series.

All students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to this free event, which will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. in Morton Hall Room 201.

During the event, Everett will read from and discuss his award-winning novel, “James,” a retelling of “Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” from the fugitive slave character Jim’s perspective.  “James” won the 2024 National Book Award and the 2025 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction.  Afterward, Everett will be available to sign copies of his books.

The author, who is a Distinguished Professor of English at the University of Southern California, has received numerous awards for his work. Recent books by Everett include “Dr. No,” “The Trees,” and “Telephone.” 

“American Fiction,” the feature film based on his novel “Erasure,” was released in 2023 and was awarded the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay
