OHIO Board of Trustees to discuss strategic priorities, statewide partnerships and campus investments during Aug. 13 meeting

The Ohio University Board of Trustees will convene Thursday, Aug. 13, at OHIO's Dublin Integrated Education Center for its August meeting, where the Board will receive updates on the University's Dynamic Strategy, learn more about OHIO's leadership role in a new statewide initiative to strengthen Ohio's health care workforce and review a range of initiatives and resolutions that are focused on further supporting the University's academic mission and long-term strategic priorities.

The Board is also expected to consider a resolution establishing a Health and Medicine Faculty Council as a shared governance body to address the terms and conditions of employment for the non-bargaining unit faculty in the College of Health Sciences & Professions and the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Committee meetings will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at the Dublin Integrated Education Center (Rooms 246/247) and continue throughout the day. OHIO's Dynamic Strategy enters Year Three
Academics and Student Success Committee, 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13 at the Dublin Integrated Education Center (Rooms 246/247)

The Board will receive an update on Year Three of Ohio University's Dynamic Strategy, the institution's long-term roadmap for advancing student success, research excellence, community engagement and organizational effectiveness. Building on progress made during the strategy's first two years, University leaders will outline priorities for the coming year and discuss how ongoing initiatives continue to advance the University's strategic goals.

The presentation will feature updates from Interim Executive Vice President and Provost John McCarthy, Vice President for University Communications and Marketing Robin Oliver, Vice President for Research and Creative Activity Eric Muth and Vice President for Human Resources Mary Elizabeth Miles.

Together, they will highlight progress across the strategy's core pillars and discuss how Year Three initiatives will strengthen academic excellence, expand research opportunities, support employees and increase the University's impact across Ohio and beyond.

Health Workforce OHIO to strengthen Ohio's future health care workforce
Academics and Student Success Committee, 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13 at the Dublin Integrated Education Center (Rooms 246/247)

The Board will also receive an update on Health Workforce OHIO, a new statewide initiative that brings together Ohio University's health-related academic programs and community partnerships to address critical workforce needs across the state. As demand for health care professionals continues to grow, the initiative focuses on expanding educational pathways, strengthening clinical partnerships and preparing graduates to serve communities throughout Ohio, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

Executive Director of the Ohio University Health Collaborative Rick Hodges, Health Workforce OHIO Coordinator and OHIO student Savannah Flesher, and Ohio Association of Community Health Centers CEO Julie DiRossi King will discuss the University's collaborative approach to educating health care professionals across multiple disciplines and supporting Ohio's evolving health care landscape.

Capital Improvement Plan advances campus infrastructure
Resources, Facilities and Affordability Committee, 1:15 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 13 at the Dublin Integrated Education Center (Rooms 246/247)

The Board will review Ohio University's proposed Fiscal Year 2027 Capital Improvement Plan, which outlines strategic investments to maintain and enhance facilities that support the University's academic mission, research enterprise and student experience. The plan reflects the University's ongoing commitment to responsibly managing campus infrastructure while prioritizing projects that advance long-term institutional goals and address evolving campus needs.

The Board will also consider several resolutions declaring surplus property on the Athens, Chillicothe, Lancaster and Dublin campuses to provide greater flexibility for future space planning and redevelopment opportunities.

Additionally, they will receive an update on major facilities projects underway across the University. The presentation will highlight construction, renovation and infrastructure initiatives designed to modernize learning and research environments, improve campus operations and enhance the experience of students, faculty, staff and visitors.
