OHIO community invited to April 20 lecture on struggle for Black voting rights in 1800s Ohio

All students, faculty, staff and community members are invited to the Central Region Humanities Center Spring Lecture on Monday, April 20.

The lecture will feature a presentation on “False Promises: The Struggle for Black Voting Rights in 1800s Ohio,” by author Ric Sheffield. The event will begin at 4 p.m. at the Southeast Ohio History Center,  located at 24 W. State St. in Athens.

Sheffield is a professor emeritus of legal studies and sociology at Kenyon College. The lecture, which will include refreshments, is free and open to the public.
