Ohio University to launch redesigned faculty, staff profiles this summer

This spring and summer, Ohio University’s University Communications and Marketing (UCM) Web Team will lead a comprehensive redesign of faculty and staff profiles across ohio.edu – part of an ongoing effort to enhance the University’s digital presence and improve how people and expertise are showcased online.

The project will introduce a centralized profile system, allowing a single profile to populate across multiple University websites. This approach will reduce duplicate entries, streamline updates, and ensure more consistent, accurate information across ohio.edu. In addition to improved functionality, profiles and departmental listing pages will feature a refreshed design aimed at elevating visibility and better highlighting faculty and staff accomplishments.

“This initiative is about creating a more cohesive and user-friendly experience for our campus community and external audiences,” said Halie Best, director of web and digital strategy. “By centralizing profiles, we’re making it easier to maintain information, while also presenting it in a more modern, engaging way.”

Content editing freeze planned

To support the transition, an editing freeze on current profiles will be in place from May 18 through mid-August as profiles are migrated into the new system. Faculty and staff are encouraged to submit any content updates, including new or higher-resolution headshots, by May 1 to ensure changes are reflected before the freeze.

New profile URLs and redirects

With the launch of the new system, all faculty and staff profiles will receive updated URLs. Faculty and staff who have shared their profile URL on business cards or other materials are encouraged to submit a profile redirect request to ensure those links continue to work after launch.

All ohio.edu website administrators also have received communications about this project with more details about back-end specifics.
