Recognizing students' passion for OHIO’S legacy

As they near graduation, many OHIO students are already envisioning the kind of alumni they want to become. Recognizing the present and future impact those dedicated Bobcats can have, the Ohio University Alumni Association introduced the Leaving a Legacy Award.

"We're inspired by the countless students who embody a deep passion for OHIO,” said Assistant Vice President of Alumni Relations Laurie Lach. “This scholarship celebrates those future alumni whose dedication will continue to shape OHIO's legacy long after they graduate.”

The Division of Student Affairs (DOSA) hosted an event on April 17 where the first Leaving a Legacy award was presented to three students:

  • Jess Mitchell
  • Parwinder Singh
  • Lily Waskiewicz

The scholarship is awarded at $1,000. To be eligible, students must anticipate graduating in 2025 and stand as a current junior or rising senior. Students must submit an application describing their commitment to their graduating class and how they plan to continue this commitment through their senior year and after graduating.

OHIO alumni are especially committed to and enthusiastic about their alma mater. The results of Giving Day 2024 were perfect example of the OHIO alumni spirit.
