Save the Date: Spring Blackboard integration changes announced

As initially communicated in March 2022, many of the integrations within Blackboard rely on technology that has become outdated.

Blackboard, the vendor, set a deadline of Dec. 31, 2023, to have these integrations updated to more modern technologies. Any integrations that have an available update will be upgraded between Dec. 20-22, and any integrations that must be retired will be retired on Dec. 31, between 6-7 p.m.

Add/Modify Enrollments, Course Merge and Create a Test Course will be retired on Dec. 31, as an upgrade to these integrations is not possible. As of Jan. 1, these functions will need to be requested by contacting the IT Service Desk for assistance. Please note that the retirement of these tools will require some additional planning on the part of the instructor as tickets to the service desk are handled on a first come, first served basis and processing times may vary.

Panopto has a new integration available that will replace the existing Original and Ultra integrations with a single new integration. The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is currently working with the vendor to complete testing to determine what impact the integration change will have for end users. Additional “Panopto” specific communications will be forthcoming as OIT learns more.

GivePulse has a new integration available and will be upgraded on Dec. 20. OIT anticipates that instructors will need to recreate their links for GivePulse after the upgrade.

ExamSoft, GoReact, Hawkes Publishing, Starfish and VitalSource do not yet have replacement integrations available for testing. OIT is continuing to work with the vendors and will share information as it becomes available.
