OHIO to host special events for Bobcats, family, friends during Family Weekend

Ohio University will welcome Bobcat family members and friends to campus this weekend with a wide variety of Family Weekend events.

The events will include a Bobcat Family Welcome Reception, nationally-known magician and comedian performances, OHIO volleyball and field hockey games, stargazing and even ziplining at The Ridges.

All students, family members and friends are invited to the Family Weekend events, which will be held Sept. 8-10.

Family Weekend events include:

Bobcat Family Welcome – Friday, Sept. 8, at 6 to 8 p.m. – You are invited to join Ohio University leaders on the iconic College Green for a welcome reception. Stop by for refreshments and the opportunity to connect with staff, faculty and other Bobcat Families.

Magician Daniel Martin – Friday, Sept. 8, at 8 p.m. – Daniel Martin has quickly become one of the most sought-after performers in the nation. His high-energy performances are a thrilling fusion of incredible sleight of hand and playful sleight of mind, breaking attendance records at theaters and universities worldwide.

Stargazing and Campfire – Friday, Sept. 8, from 8 to 10 p.m. – Join Outdoor Pursuits for an evening of stargazing and campfire fun. Participants will spend the evening roasting marshmallows, spotting constellations, and listening to tales of the night sky and Ridges lore.  

Latty Patty and Save the Glass Night at Latitude 39 – Saturday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. – Hosted at Baker University Center's delicious restaurant Latitude 39, patrons who order any drink will receive a Bobcat Family glass to keep! Supply is limited, so be sure to stop by to enjoy Latty Patty at 11 a.m. on the patio or watch the Bobcat Football game at 6 p.m., which will be streamed inside the restaurant.

Ziplining at the Ridges – Saturday, Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. – Head for the Ridges to catch some air on the Outdoor Pursuits zip line.  The excitement builds as you climb the 40-foot tower to the take-off platform and fly down a 300 foot zip line. This event fills up quickly, so be sure to sign up early to secure your spot.

OHIO Volleyball vs. William & Mary – Saturday, Sept. 9, at 2 p.m. – Watch the OHIO Volleyball team at the annual Bobcat Invitational.

Comedian Preacher Lawson – Saturday, Sept. 9, at 8 p.m. – Preacher Lawson is best known for his appearance on America's Got Talent, where he made it to the final round. Based on his stellar performance in season 12, Lawson was invited to compete in America's Got Talent: The Champions and Britain's Got Talent: The Champions in 2019, where he advanced to the finale.  

OHIO Field Hockey vs Indiana – Sunday, Sept. 10, at 12 p.m. – Watch the OHIO Field Hockey Team at Pruitt Field.
