OHIO, Athens community can “BEAT THE HEAT” with Athena Cinema’s family-friendly summer movies showcase

This summer, everyone across the Athens community is invited to stay cool, enjoy delicious concessions treats and engage in the timeless tradition of watching movies on the big screen.

Athena Cinema is proud to present its annual “BEAT THE HEAT” summer series, which will feature numerous children’s and family-friendly films on Saturday afternoons. The summer series will be hosted at alternate locations, including the Baker University Center Theater and the Ridges Auditorium, while the Athena Cinema continues to undergo repairs. 

A complete list of event dates and planned movies, including the specific event location for each film, is available on the Athena Cinema website. 

“From international animations to nostalgic, classic family films, our series offers something for everyone,” said Athena Cinema Director Alexandra Kamody.

Kamody noted that the primary purpose of the “BEAT THE HEAT” series is to give back to both the greater Athens community and area children’s organizations. In fact, all admissions revenues for each event will be donated to a different local organization. 

“We’re excited to offer this event and encourage everyone to come out and support our initiative, take advantage of local shopping and dining and enjoy a fun summer event with friends and family,” Kamody said.
