An update regarding Ohio University's presidential search

Presidential Search Committee and Board of Trustees Chair Peggy Viehweger shared the following message with the University community on Friday, March 10, 2023.

To our Ohio University community,

First, I want to say thank you to each of you who participated in the interview process over the last two weeks as we continue the search for our 23rd Ohio University President. Your engagement in the open forums and your feedback through the candidate surveys are invaluable as the Board of Trustees works to identify the best leader for OHIO.

When we began this process, the board committed to transparency throughout the search, and with that in mind we thought it was important to provide an update related to our finalists. Dr. Susana Rivera-Mills has made the choice to withdraw her candidacy. Although we did not anticipate this change, we also recognize that it is not unusual for a candidate to withdraw for a variety of reasons and we wish Dr. Rivera-Mills success in her future endeavors.

The Board and I remain confident in the strength of the finalists put forward by the search committee, and we have received significant positive feedback on each of our candidates. With that in mind, we are continuing conversations toward the selection of OHIO’s 23rd President with total confidence that the candidate selected from among our finalists will bring strong, inspiring leadership to the University.

Again, thank you for all you have done to support the work of the Board and the Presidential Search Committee in this process.

Sincerely,

Peggy Viehweger
Chair, Presidential Search Committee
Chair, Board of Trustees
