OIT recommends practices to safely shop online this holiday season

Now that Thanksgiving has passed, many people are in the full holiday shopping swing. Although shopping online can be a convenient alternative to braving the frenzied malls this time of year, online shoppers can be an easy target for cybercriminals looking to steal your data or money.

In fact, according to a recent Norton Cyber Safety report, 36 percent of Americans have fallen victim to online shopping scams during the holidays. On average, these victims each lost $387 as a result.

The National Cybersecurity Alliance has published their top tips for safe online holiday shopping. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to stay secure this holiday season by implementing these practices when shopping online.
