Amazon Prime series ‘The College Tour’ features OHIO in Nov. episode, sneak preview to run at The Athena Cinema during Homecoming

Ohio University will be featured in an upcoming episode of “The College Tour” premiering on Amazon Prime/IMDB on Nov. 9 and is currently streaming on “The College Tour” website, app, and streaming on Roku. The episode features 10 amazing Bobcats highlighting their OHIO experiences.

A special sneak peek viewing opportunity will take place at The Athena Cinema on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. during OHIO’s Homecoming weekend, giving alumni back on the bricks an opportunity to view the episode before it premieres and take even more pride in the institution that will always be their home. The 30-minute episode will run on a loop in Theater 2 in The Athena Cinema and the entire OHIO and Athens community is invited to drop in.

“The College Tour,” a television series by Emmy-nominated and multi-award-winning producers, highlights colleges and universities around the world, telling their stories and what makes them unique through the eyes of their most important advocates and stakeholders: the students.

Joi Foy, a second-year student from Birmingham, Ala. studying journalism, with a minor in sports management, was one of the students featured in OHIO’s episode. During her segment Foy highlights residential life on OHIO’s campus, explaining how finding a community was essential and easier than she first thought. She includes how she’s already involved in several student organizations such as Ebony Minds and The African Student Association, and how she’s already found a second home on campus in the Multicultural Center.

“There is a place for everyone here. I am more than nine hours away from home and coming here I was afraid that I would not find ‘my people’ or my community. I quickly found that there was a place for all of my interests, demographics, and values here at OHIO,” Foy said.

During OHIO’s episode, viewers will hear from students on various topics such as living in Athens, campus life, experiential learning opportunities, investing in student success, resources to help students, OHIO’s Honors and Scholars programs, community and campus engagement, health and sustainability at OHIO, student organizations and school spirit.

“Being on Ohio University’s campus, the love and excitement for both the school and the surrounding community was so palpable,” Alex Boylan, the host of The College Tour, said. “There’s no doubt this institution is offering students great experiential learning opportunities personally and professionally in one of the most beautiful environments we’ve seen.”
