Mark J. Heil named interim vice president for finance and administration at Ohio University

Ohio University President Hugh Sherman has announced that Mark J. Heil will serve as Ohio University’s interim vice president for finance and administration beginning Monday, August 8.

Heil served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Boise State University for the past five years. With more than 30 years of experience in the private sector, Heil served in a number of roles, including, most recently as vice president and corporate controller at Micron Technology, Inc., and as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, all in Boise.

“Mark is a highly skilled, experienced financial executive who most recently served as the chief financial officer at a major university,” President Sherman said. “I am confident he will continue to advance our efforts to ensure OHIO’s financial stability, and I am proud to welcome him to our leadership team.”

Heil earned his bachelor of arts degree in accounting and computer information systems from Boise State University. He is an active member of the advisory board for the Department of Accountancy in the College of Business and Economics at Boise State University, a licensed Certified Public Accountant, and a member of the Idaho State Board of Accountancy and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

This news follows Joe Trubacz’s planned departure from the role of interim vice president for finance and administration at OHIO.

President Sherman expressed gratitude to Trubacz for his work over the past year.

“I appreciate all of Joe’s work and dedication to OHIO as interim vice president for finance and administration during this time of transition,” President Sherman said. “He has provided strong leadership to help ensure the University’s continued financial success. Joe has been an excellent colleague and friend, and he will be missed.”

The University plans to conduct a national search for the position in early 2023 in alignment with the national search for Ohio University’s 23rd President. Heil’s contract includes a provision to extend his interim role at OHIO until a successful permanent candidate is named.
