Call for student Leadership Awards nominations

Student Leadership Awards have recognized an impressive group of Ohio University students and student organizations each spring for 39 years. The awards steering committee is now accepting nominations from the entire Bobcat community to launch this time-honored tradition at OHIO for the 2021-22 awards cycle.

This year, the Department of Student Affairs, in partnership with Diversity and Inclusion, will aim to recognize students who have demonstrated purpose, perseverance, and progress through meaningful contributions of leadership and service to OHIO communities.

“It has been a transformational time at OHIO and our students are a big part of that,” said Hailee Tavoian, chair of the awards committee and director of student communications. “Many of the most impactful examples of leadership and service are not the most visible. We need our faculty, staff, administrators and student peers who are on the front lines of student life to champion those leaders now.”

Students and student organizations across all colleges and campuses can be nominated for awards by anyone within or outside of the OHIO community until Dec. 5.

An ideal nominee would go above and beyond their work responsibilities, inspire others, advance the surrounding community and/or excel academically. Nominators should consider the students who they interact with regularly and are deserving of being recognized for their leadership at Ohio University.

Students who want to apply for an award do not need to nominate themselves and can directly submit applications between Nov. 21 and Feb. 1. Selection committees led by leaders from DOSA and D&I will review redacted submissions and choose final awards recipients according to each award’s established criteria.

Visit the awards website to learn more about the Leadership Awards.

Nominate a student using this form by Dec. 5.
