A message from President Hugh Sherman, OHIO’s next chapter begins today

Published: June 14, 2021 Author: Staff reports

The following message was shared with the Ohio University community on June 14, 2021:

To my Ohio University Colleagues:

Today, after serving Ohio University in many different positions over 25 years, I am stepping into a new role as President of our incredible University. My purpose, over the next two years, will be to partner with you to guide us forward – out of a time of disruption and uncertainty and into a strong and stable next chapter for OHIO. Our work together will prepare us for the search and selection of our 23rd President beginning in 2022.

In the months ahead, I will be asking you to work with me to continue our efforts to strengthen academic quality, recruit and retain students, deliver a distinctly valuable student learning experience, serve our communities, and ensure financial stability. I look forward to speaking with you about these priorities both virtually and in person at events on our Athens and regional campuses in the weeks and months ahead.

Until then, I wanted to share a short video message with you about why I accepted the honor to serve as your President:

In closing, I want to thank President Nellis for his leadership over the last four years, and for assembling a talented leadership team with broad expertise. I also want to thank each of you for your work in service to this University and our students. Working together, with transparency and a mutual commitment to those we serve, we can and will be a leading, transformational University, preparing our students for success, for life.
