Ohio University Regional Higher Education will honor 2020 graduates during December 2021 graduate recognition ceremonies

Ohio University Regional Higher Education campuses will honor graduates with in-person graduate recognition ceremonies this December 2021. This is in addition to last week’s announcement regarding the spring and fall 2020 Athens Campus commencement ceremony.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity to our 2020 graduates who worked so hard to complete their degrees, but missed out on their special day,” said RHE Executive Dean Dr. Nicole Pennington. “We look forward to celebrating all of our graduates.”

Details about the dates, times and locations will be released via Catmail, postal mail, website and social media early in fall semester. Information about nursing pinning ceremonies will also be included.

Additionally, regional graduates are invited to attend the in-person commencement ceremony on Sept. 5 in Athens, recently announced by Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis. This date was selected to align with Labor Day weekend, and it will coincide with OHIO Football’s first home game on Saturday, Sept. 4. Class of 2020 graduates should check their Catmail in June for the official invitation and RSVP link for this event.

In March 2020, President Nellis, in consultation with student leadership, shared plans to postpone Spring 2020 ceremonies due to the pandemic. Fall 2020 graduates participated in a virtual commencement ceremony in accordance with guidance from public health experts but are still eligible for the in-person commencement ceremony.
