OHIO President Nellis: Universities need to be nimble

As universities across the state and nation work to adjust to the economic realities of both the coronavirus pandemic and the changing nature of higher education, Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis is reminding people that it’s important to be ready to change quickly.

Nellis spoke to Cleveland.com recently, calling upon his experience in the industry and noting that there are opportunities in the challenges.

“Higher education needs to be more nimble, to be able to pivot,” Nellis said. “It creates a lot of unique challenges and also, as we try to move forward, hopefully opportunities.”

The article was written by OHIO alumnus Brent Larkin, who served as the Cleveland Plain Dealer’s editorial director from 1991 until 2009.
