University postpones planned electrical outage in May on Athens campus

Ohio University's May 16-17 planned electrical outage on the Athens Campus has been postponed. The third-party contractor hired to perform the work recently notified Facilities Management and Safety that it could not complete the work as a result of COVID-19.

The outage was supposed to take place from 7 p.m. Saturday, May 16 through 11 a.m. Sunday, May 17 to allow for improvements to the campus electrical distribution system. The 16-hour outage had been scheduled during non-business hours to minimize impact to the Ohio University community.

As restrictions related to COVID-19 are lessened and operations return to a more normal condition, the outage will be rescheduled and appropriately coordinated with the campus community.

Thank you for your understanding as the University works through this challenging time. Please feel free to contact the Facilities Management and Safety Work Center at 740-593-2911 if you have any questions or concerns.
