Facilities Management and Safety begins alternative work schedule April 1

Facilities Management and Safety (FMS) anticipates implementing an alternative work schedule on April 1 for its bargaining unit membership in order to reduce their on-campus presence by 50 percent. This change, or a similar one, will also be implemented for other non-culinary AFSCME organizations.

The change is an outcome of the opportunity associated with reduced student, faculty, and staff presence on campus and is intended to better support the governor's "stay at home directive.”

One of the palatable changes will be in facility cleaning. With reduced on-campus staff, FMS will work with building owners/occupants to identify core areas being used and associated cleaning.

For example, in restricted or limited buildings FMS would work with building owners to limit restroom use to one area to preclude having to clean all restrooms building wide.

Building owners can reach out to Steve Mack (macks@ohio.edu) or Ervin Boyd (boyde@ohio.edu) to discuss details specific to their situation.
