Ohio University's International Education Week celebration (PHOTOS)


Ohio University’s International Education Week (IEW) celebration in November featured international visitors, dynamic presentations from alumni, faculty, students and visiting experts, and a wide range of events on the Athens and regional campuses.

Held during the week of Nov. 11 -18, IEW 2018 included a conference on the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and Higher Education, keynote remarks from Ohio University Professor John Sabraw, a photo contest sponsored by the Office of Global Opportunities, the Global Engagement Awards Gala, the International Dinner, a series of events sponsored by The Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education, and special activities on the Zanesville Campus and the Lancaster Campus.

International Dinner 2018

International Education Week kicked off on Sunday, Nov. 11 with the annual International Dinner, hosted by the International Student Union in the Baker University Center Ballroom. OGO Photo Contest winner for IEW

The Office of Global Opportunities holds a photo contest each year during IEW as a way to celebrate how the university community has been empowered by global experiences. The contest, which is open to students, alumni, staff and faculty, also encourages others to embark on their own international journeys. This year, the contest received a large number of amazing submissions for the five contest categories. Shown above is the submission by Elayna Levison, which won first place in the Bobcats: Near and Far category. Levison's image is from the Horsehoe Bend and Grand Canyon. All winning submissions are currently in display in the Front Room Campus Coffeehouse in the Baker University Center.

Global Engagement Awards Gala 2018

The Global Engagement Awards Gala on Wednesday, Nov. 14 honored faculty, staff, alumni, community members and a Chubu University professor for their excellence in global engagement. United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and Higher Education conference

The United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and Higher Education Conference, sponsored by the Center for International Studies, was held on Nov. 14 and 15 in the Baker University Center. The conference featured an alumni panel, a student research expo, an essay contest and a series of panels discussing topics related to the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
