Governor appoints Diane Smullen to Ohio University Board of Trustees

Board of Trustees term began July 27, 2016, ends May 13, 2025

Ohio Governor John R. Kasich has appointed Diane Smullen to the Ohio University Board of Trustees.

Smullen, who graduated from Ohio University in 1992 with a degree in accounting and finance, is currently the vice president of finance for Cameron Mitchell Restaurants and oversees the company’s accounting and technology departments. She also manages the company’s banking relationships and business insurance.

A long-standing supporter of Ohio University, Smullen has been a member of the Executive Advisory Board within the College of Business since 2009. She and her husband, Tom, also established a University scholarship through the OHIO Match in 2014.

"We are delighted with the appointment of Ms. Smullen to the Ohio University Board of Trustees,” said Board of Trustees Chair David Wolfort. “Her vast experience in accounting and technology make her an excellent choice.”

Smullen joined Cameron Mitchell Restaurants in 1997 in the role of chief financial officer. She previously served as controller of Herberts Powder Coatings, Inc., a $50 million multi-national organization located in Hilliard, OH. She was also an accountant with Deloitte & Touche, LLP, in Columbus, OH, where she performed auditing services for hospitality, manufacturing and distribution companies.

Her term with the OHIO Board of Trustees began July 27, 2016 and will end May 13, 2025. Smullen will join fellow Board members during their next official meeting in August at Ohio University’s Dublin Integrated Education Center in Dublin, OH.
