On Thursday, July 25, Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit announced the appointment of Dr. Lorna Jean Edmonds as the Vice Provost of Global Affairs and professor of Health Sciences and Professions.
I am pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Lorna Jean Edmonds as Vice Provost for Global Affairs and Professor of Health Sciences and Professions following a national search.
Lorna Jean comes to us from the Université d'Ottawa where she serves as Executive Advisor for Planning and Research. Lorna Jean has a distinguished record as an educator and researcher in the fields of international development, global health and health policy, community-based rehabilitation and social policy reform. Lorna Jean earned her doctorate from the University of East Anglia School of Development Studies and has extensive experience in the areas of strategic planning, policy reform, and government relations. Lorna Jean’s appointment begins in mid-August. With her arrival to campus, a search for a half-time director of the Center for International Studies will begin.
I also want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the exceptional work of Ming Li as Interim Director of the Center for International Studies. Ming has been a dedicated and effective leader of the unit during this transition and search and his efforts are greatly appreciated.
