OhioHealth O'Bleness Hospital Race For A Reason is less than a month away

The Center for Sports Administration classes of 2014 and 2015 and Athletes in Action would like to announce the countdown to the 3rd annual OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital Race For A Reason on April 26.

OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital Race for a Reason has become the largest charity event in Southeast Ohio. This is the third year that the Center for Sports Administration has partnered with Athletes in Action to put on this event. This event allows each runner to pick a cause that he/she is passionate about and use our event as a platform to reach his/her own fundraising goal. There are currently more than 50 charities selected as benefactors for the event.

Last year’s event had over 800 participants and raised over $70,000 for various local and national charities and student organizations. This year the goals are 1,000 participants and $100,000.

How To Get Involved

1. Choose a Race:
Run as an individual or with a student organization in one of the unique races:

  • 34th annual OUHCOM 5K Medicine Run presented by Quidel: A traditional 5K run that will start near the Walter Hall parking lot and finish at TailGreat Park.
  • Rocky Military Mud Run powered by OU ROTC: A challenging and non-traditional run starting in Tailgreat Park and heading up to the Army ROTC Training course at The Ridges, through mud pits and obstacles, before heading down to a slip-n-slide finish line at TailGreat Park.
  • Athletes in Action Triathlon presented by the College of Health Sciences and Professions: A short sprint format that begins at the Ohio University Aquatic Center heading out of town on a challenging bike course before returning to campus to complete a 5K run and finish at TailGreat Park.
  • AMVETS 3K Diabetes Walk presented by HUMANA: A new walk that will begin in TailGreat park and head down the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway towards OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital. The walk will end in TailGreat Park.
  • Virtual Runner: Plan your own physical activity at home on April 26.


2. Choose a Reason:

Select a charity, non-profit organization or cause and set a goal to raise money for that reason through pledges and donations.

3. Begin Fundraising:

Reach out to family and friends for pledges to reach your goal. Any participant who registers will have a portion of their registration fee automatically donated to the charity of their choice!
