Akan Instructor

Ewurabena Edufua Krampah

Ewurabena has taught Akan (Twi) at OU since Fall 2020. She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA, Accra Ghana) and is currently pursuing a dual master's degree in International Studies and Public Administration at Ohio University. She is passionate about teaching Akan (Twi) language and adapting to innovative teaching strategies. Prior to coming to graduate school, she worked with the examinations department in the West African Examinations Council in Ghana. She is also interested in community projects for development, so she works as a volunteer research analyst for the Social Enterprise Ecosystem, which seeks to make positive changes to health and wellness, education and the environment in the Appalachian region. She believes that education is a powerful weapon which you can use to change the world. 

Hindi Instructor

Namrata Jain

Namrata has taught Hindi at OU since Fall 2017. Namrata Jain is finishing her MA, Asian Studies at OU. She started working with the Hindi language program as a Fulbright FLTA in 2017, where she taught Hindi and was also a cultural ambassador of India before enrolling in the MA program in Asian Studies. She has taught both the Elementary and Intermediate levels of Hindi at OU. She also has a Doctoral degree in English literature and Gender Studies. She taught literature and language over a decade at Delhi University before transitioning to OU. In addition, she is an independent artist who has worked on and advocated for the Indian fork art form called “Warli” for many years. She is selected to be the CIS resident artist while working on her degree. Lastly, she is a published poet and short story writer and a theater practitioner.

Indonesian Instructor

Agam Syahrial

Agam has taught Indonesian at OU since Fall 2018. Agam Syahrial is originally from Salatiga, central Java. He is currently finishing his master’s degree in Asian Studies with a focus on the modern history of Indonesia. His other areas of interest include foreign language teaching pedagogy and second language acquisition.

Agam holds a bachelor’s degree in English Language Teaching from Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana (UKSW), Salatiga, Central Java. Before coming to teach at Ohio University, he taught Indonesian language at Columbia University. He also taught Indonesian at the Southeast Asian Summer Studies Institute (SEASSI) during summer 2019 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Wolof Instructor

Fatou Drammeh

Fatou has taught Wolof at OU since Fall 2019. Fatou is currently a Masters student studying African Studies at Ohio University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in development studies from The University of The Gambia. Fatou is currently employed by the Gambia Government as a Planning Officer at the Ministry of Justice. Her responsibilities include providing consultation to the ministry on the formulation of national plans, ensuring planning feasibility, viability and efficient use of resources in the various operational sectors. Fatou is involved in many community activities. She works closely with the communities and engages in the promotion and empowerment of women and girls in the technology and ITC sector by organizing “All Girls Tech Camp” and “Let Girls Code” for adolescent schoolgirls in her community. Her wealth of experience in the diverse field of social sciences is also something worthy of mention. She has participated in different forms of social research, ranging from survey, participatory rural research, and community outreach, and she is currently the financial secretary of Give 1 Project Gambia Chapter.
