Dr. Mitchell focuses on literary and cultural studies of Latin America, with an emphasis on autobiography and autoethnography in Mexican and U.S. Latinx communities. Her articles exploring topics such as women writers’ incursions in the national narrative of Mexico, embodied Latina performance in Chicago, and Jewish experiences inscribed in the streets of Mexico City have been published in a variety of academic journals. Her enduring interest in stories of immigration and migrant communities is inspired and informed by her own outreach and activism in those areas.
