Regional Nonprofit Alliance
The Regional Nonprofit Alliance strengthens the capacity of nonprofit organizations located in rural Appalachia by providing online resources, affordable workshops, and hands-on help. Established in 2008, the Alliance is supported by the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs and was provided start-up funding from the Sugar Bush Foundation and the Office of Campus-Community Engagement at Ohio University. Since its inception, the Alliance has provided capacity building and technical assistance for a number of different nonprofit organizations throughout the Appalachian region, produced a board governance training DVD, and provided many graduate students opportunities to work in the nonprofit sector, thereby showing young people that there are viable, interesting job options in the sector. Experienced nonprofit professionals are always available to answer questions by email, phone, or if you’d prefer to talk with someone in person, let us know and we’ll be glad to schedule a time to meet.
As an alliance of nonprofit groups, civic leaders, funders, consultants, faculty, staff, students, and all those who care about creating strong, healthy nonprofit organizations in the Appalachian Region, we value collaboration, sincerity, mutual learning, and integrity so that information sharing, civic involvement, and care for our communities and neighbors is enriched. Effective capacity building achieves positive long-term results and leaves organizations stronger. We work to encourage permanent individual and institutional change and remain engaged in a supportive role as the organizations we partner with develop and grow.
