More than 100 students, faculty and professional staff of Ohio University gathered September 14, 2010 in the Walter Hall Rotunda for the annual Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs Student Welcome Reception.

Dozens of students from multiple majors, including Honors Tutorial College / Voinovich School Scholars, as well as students in the Master of Public Administration, Integrated Master of Business Administration and Master of Science in Environmental Studies, will join in projects and programs facilitated by the school.

As the event’s keynote speaker, Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit used her speech time to encourage students to help address the problems facing Appalachia through their various projects.

“As students you are an important part of that work,” Benoit said. “You will be able to put your knowledge and skills to the test knowing that what you are doing is worth far more than a grade.”
