Individuals have shared short reflection essays and photos that tell the story of engagement and friendship between Ohio University and Chubu University!

In celebration of the 50 Year Anniversary of this institutional relationship, OHIO and Chubu are gathering photos and essays to capture the spirit and importance of the intercultural experiences between our institutions and communities!

2003 Burson House under construction

56 E. Union, formerly the Burson House, was renovated and expanded thanks to a generous gift of 100 million yen, or approximately $850,000 from Chubu University. It was renamed Yamada International House in honor of Chubu's late President and Chancellor Kazuo Yamada.

Celebrating 50 Years: OHIO and Chubu Mascots Connect

While OHIO President Lori Stewart Gonzalez welcomed Chubu’s President Yoshimi Takeuchi and delegates in Athens to celebrate our 50 Year Anniversary, a special friend also made the trip- Chutora! Chubu’s adorable tiger mascot received a special tour of Athens from Rufus as we celebrated the legacy of our special partnership.

Dr. Atsuo Iiyoshi received OHIO 2023 Honorary Doctorate of Science

During Spring 2023 Commencement, Dr. Atsuo Iiyoshi, Chubu University former President, Chancellor Emeritus, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, received an honorary Doctorate of Science from Ohio University.

Watch his acceptance video and the commencement ceremony video clip during which CHancellor Yasuhiro Iye accepted the honor on behalf of Dr. Iiyoshi.
