Class of 2000

Lisa Fulton

Lisa FultonAfter graduating in June of 2001, I began working at GE Aircraft Engines in the Community and Public Relations Department in Cincinnati, OH. The following fall, I was accepted into GE's Communications Leadership Development Program -- an 18-month training program that provides media relations, organizational communications and marketing communications experience in three different GE businesses, with each rotation lasting about six months.

In January of 2002, I was sent to Connecticut to work at GE Industrial Systems in their Organizational Communications department. While there I worked on internal and executive communications, as well as special community-event projects. It was during this rotation that I also became six-sigma certified (a big thing in GE).

Then in July of 2002, I was sent to GE Corporate in Fairfield, CT, to work in the Public Relations department. I had quite an exciting time working on promotions for the PBS series "Freedom: A History of US", helping roll out GE's new ad campaign and tagline (we replaced "We Bring Good Things to Life" with "Imagination at Work"); and I am working on the content for GE's new Corporate Governance site.

In February of 2003, I headed to Paris, France to work in Marketing Communications for GE Real Estate. While on rotation there, I visited the various GE Real Estate sites in Europe, training managers in crisis communications and rolling out marketing communications plans.

After graduating from the program in July of 2003,1 went to GE ERC in Kansas City, where I worked on a quality project and developed a plan to improve internal communications. Just when I thought I was going to have a permanent home in Kansas, I got a call from my manager in October of 2003 asking if I would want to do a three-month assignment in Brussels, Belgium. Of course I accepted, and while in Brussels I worked with the Public Relations and Marketing departments for GE EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) to revamp the external GE websites so that they reflected the new "Imagination at Work" branding guidelines, and teamed up with the country PR agencies to update their materials with the new branding "look and feel".

Recently, I accepted a job in Chicago doing Marketing Communications for GE Express Financial Solutions, with a start date of Jan. 5, 2004. Finally, I will be in a city with some other GLCers!
