A Cutler Scholar can pursue any degree program in any of Ohio University's nine undergraduate colleges. (A Scholar with an award restricted to a designated academic unit must, as a freshman, enroll in that academic unit.) Each Cutler Scholar receives annual stipends to support four years of study, including summer programs.
The Cutler Scholars Award is renewed throughout the Scholar's undergraduate college career as long as the student meets the performance criteria established by the Cutler Scholars Board of Governors. Each Scholar is expected to participate in weekly colloquia during the academic year and in
Enrichment Experiences, which include Outward Bound, community service/volunteer, business/management, and study or work abroad. The distinct measure of a Cutler Scholar's eligibility for continued support is the student's academic performance, demonstrated leadership on campus, and ability to show evidence of his or her desire to enrich the general welfare of the Ohio University community.
Colloquia
The Cutler Scholars meet weekly in small-group seminars to discuss issues and choices encountered by societies and institutions, using Ohio University faculty and staff as well as leaders from outside the University as resources. A different topic based on a general theme is selected for each of the three academic quarters, with the choice of topic depending on its timeliness and relevance. Colloquia topics for a year might include the presidential electoral process, ethical and technical issues of organ transplants, and prospects for peace in the new millennium. Click

Mentoring Opportunities
The program offers Cutler Scholars unique opportunities to establish relationships with benefactors; University faculty, staff, and alumni; and friends who are business and community leaders. The intent is to provide links with mentors who can help provide guidance and counseling that is tailored to the personal interests and abilities of each Scholar.
