The forensic students are expected to be good students in their subject area, so they should be obtaining grades of B or higher in the chemistry department classes. Students who do not meet pre-requisites for required courses will not be allowed to take those courses until the pre-requisite is satisfied. Students with marginal grades should be made aware that unsatisfactory performance (i.e., grades below C-) in a pre-requisite course could add additional years to their expected graduation date.
Students trying to rectify low grades in courses should consider enrolling in Course Credit by Examination [http://www.ohiou.edu/independent/ccewords.htm], but forensic chemistry students should first contact Pete Harrington, Director of the Forensic Chemistry Program before pursuing this option with any departmental faculty member. Students who are having academic problems should also be referred to Pete.
