Purpose

This procedure describes how OHIO maintains and submits representations and certifications to sponsors. Representations and certifications are written guarantees that affirm OHIO’s compliance with various federal requirements.

Scope

This procedure applies to all sponsored projects subject to OHIO Policy 19.045 (opens in a new window) Administering External Grants and Contracts set up as separate accounts in the OHIO Financial Management System (FMS).

Definitions

See ORSP Glossary for term definitions.

Procedure

Ohio University maintains an account in the federal government’s System for Award Management (SAM). SAM includes the most-often-required representations and certifications and is accessible to all federal agencies and subcontractors. Updates are submitted at least annually.

Some federal agencies and pass-through entities may require additional representations and certifications at the time of proposal submission. When such information is required, your Sponsored Program Manager will complete the representation and/or certification form on the PIs behalf. All representations and certifications are reviewed by ORSP and must be signed by an authorized official.
