Barbara Underwood Nalazek had been the Assistant Director of Legal Affairs at Ohio University since 2002. Now as an Associate Director of Legal Affairs, Barb handles a variety of matters, focusing on issues relating to finance, intellectual property, privacy, and student life.
Barb has a B.A. in International Studies and a J.D., both from The Ohio State University, as well as a Diploma in Historical Studies from the University of Lancaster in Lancaster, England. After graduating from law school, Barb clerked for the Honorable Thomas S. Zilly, United States District Court Judge for the Western District of Washington in Seattle, Washington. After completing her clerkship, Barb worked for three years as an Associate with Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease LLP in Columbus.
Barb is a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys, the Ohio Bar Association and the Athens County Bar Association. She also volunteers for the Athens County Bar Association's Poverty Law Clinic. Barb lives in Athens with her husband and young daughter and enjoys spending time with her family, reading and gardening.
