Fun Info: I recently moved to Athens after living in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area for 26 years. I lived through the Northridge Earthquake in Los Angeles in 1994, which was the 1st indication for me that this Midwest girl would eventually move back. I am a Yooper as I was born and bred in the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan, way up there on the shores of Lake Superior. I am a really avid Michigan State University Spartan fan. Really avid! Go Green!
What My Position Entails: I am part of an amazing team that provides quality educational, recreational, and social programs for students in a safe, uplifting environment. I partner with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community members to ensure a successful “bridge” between students’ school day, their after-school program, and the “real world.”
Why I Enjoy My Job: I absolutely love the variety and diversity of my day and the students and staff whom I get to interact with on a daily basis. It’s a perfect extension of my 20 years of teaching, provides me a chance to impact students in a unique way, and allows me to continue to work with teachers and school staff.
I Chose This Career Path Because: Since I was very little, I have always wanted to work in the educational arena. I was always observing my teachers, paying attention to what worked and what didn’t. My previous teaching experience allows me to extend my background and knowledge to help create a high-quality program. Because I spent most summers in Athens, I became familiar with the Kids on Campus program and strongly believed in its mission. I love working for Ohio University!
My Professional Passion: I want the students to succeed both personally and professionally beyond the classroom…..in whatever arena they choose.
