ST. CLAIRSVILLE, Ohio - The Theater Department of Ohio University Eastern announces open community auditions for its upcoming production of William Shakespeare's comedy "Much Ado About Nothing" Tuesday, December 3 and Wednesday, December 4 at 7pm in the Shannon Hall Theater.
First performed in 1598, "Much Ado About Nothing" has been called Shakespeare's most realistic comedy. The story focuses on the trials of two very different sets of lovers, Hero and Claudio and Beatrice and Benedick, as they try to wed.
"Much Ado About Nothing" is both a celebration of love and a biting examination of the contradictions of courtship. The script is filled with classic comedy and festive good spirits, yet is grounded with a very modern suspicion of romance.
There are 22 roles available for men and women of all ages. Previous acting experience is not necessary and everyone interested is encouraged to audition. Scripts will be available one hour before auditions. Performance dates are April 3, 4, 5 and 10, 11, 12, 2014 and rehearsals begin January 27.
Anyone unable to attend the listed audition times or wishing more information should contact OUE Theater Director Dennis Fox at (740) 699-2340 or email@example.com.
