Ohio University launches new promotional television spot for 2017-18


A new promotional spot that will air during televised halftime programming during all Ohio University football and basketball games during the 2017-18 season highlights just a few of the many reasons Bobcats have to Stand Up and Cheer. 

From national award-winning students to cutting-edge research and patent-generating discoveries, “OHIO Stands Up” features several recent points of pride in the institution’s 213-year history with stunning imagery of OHIO’s picturesque Athens Campus and a signature performance of the fight song, “Stand Up and Cheer!” by the Marching 110. 

“I am so pleased this video represents the distinguished university that I know Ohio University to be,” said President M. Duane Nellis. 

The promotional video, developed by University Communications and Marketing, will reach wide audiences when it airs during athletic programming this year on ESPN, CBS Sports and Fox Sports.

“The commercial captures both campus beauty and OHIO’s academic excellence,” said Director of Athletics Jim Schaus. “Many universities in the state wish they could refer to themselves as ‘Ohio,’ but only Ohio University can – and we’re proud of that distinction! The spot is full of positive energy and school pride. After watching it, who wouldn’t want to come here?” 

The concept for the promotional video was developed with the help of Chuck Borghese, a lecturer in the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism and advertising executive who has worked in the industry for more than 30 years representing brands like Arby’s, Subaru, Breyers Ice Cream and Hertz Rental Cars. 

“I began working with UCM by developing three initial concepts for the spot after discussing President Nellis’ vision for the commercial,” Borghese said. “As a proud Ohio University alumnus, it was an honor to lend my experience and expertise to the project. The final result illustrates why we all should be proud to be Bobcats.”
