Welcome to Week 4, Bobcats! Tons of brand new events have been scheduled for this month, so be sure to check out the official OHIO Calendar of University Events (CUE) to stay up-to-date with all of awesome things happening on campus. Check out some of this week's highlights!

Prepare for the Fair Workshop Series
Each year, the CLDC hosts a bi-annual Career & Internship Fair. This is a great opportunity to network with hundreds of employers, right here in Athens, Ohio. This semester, the Career & Internship Fair will be held in the Baker Ballroom on Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Here are some workshops to help you prepare:

  • Dress for Success (Monday, Sept. 18, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., Baker University Center 366): Learn how to look sharp on a budget! This workshop highlights the professional dress expectations at networking events, career fairs, and throughout the interview process.   • Resume Writing and Cover Letters (Tuesday, Sept. 19, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m., Baker University Center 366): Having trouble formatting your resume? Can't figure out how to put together a cover letter? This interactive workshop teaches participants how to develop their professional documents, and how to personalize them to fit your unique style. RSVP through the Facebook event page.
  • Keys to Networking Success (Thursday, Sept. 21, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.. Baker University Center 366): It's all about who you know. This workshop will allow participants to leverage their individual leadership brands for professional networking. Participants will develop an elevator pitch and discuss how to utilize LinkedIn for networking success. Let us know you're coming through the Facebook event page.

Grant and Proposal Writing Workshops

  • Introduction to Grant Writing (Tuesday, Sept. 19, 3-4 p.m., Alden Library): Presented by the Graduate Writing & Research Center, this workshop will provide a basic introduction, strategies, and helpful tips to grant writing. Space is limited, so be sure to RSVP to gwrc@ohio.edu by Sept. 15 to secure your spot!
  • How to Write a Competitive 1804 Fund Proposal (Tuesday, Sept. 19, 4-5 p.m., Alden Library 301U): The 1804 Fund supports curricular innovations, programs, and activities that enhance undergraduate and graduate students, faculty research, and creative activity. The Fund was established by the Ohio University Foundation to support the University's core mission of maintaining, strengthening, and enhancing a learning-centered community. The Fund focuses its support through undergraduate learning and faculty research/graduate studies. Click for brochure, guidelines, checklist, or cover page. This workshop will be repeated on Sept. 20, 11 a.m. - noon.

Kennedy Lecture Series Presents Pete Souza (Tuesday, Sept. 19, 7:30 - 9:30 p.m., Templeton Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium): Ohio University welcomes Pete Souza, award-winning photojournalist and former Chief Official White House Photographer for President Barack Obama and Director of the White House photo office. Mr. Souza's lecture is titled Eyewitness to History: Photographs Capturing the Presidency of Barack Obama , and is free and open to the public! Be sure to show up when the doors open at 6:30 p.m. - seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

ART + DESIGN: Alumni INKAHOOTS (Thursday, Sept. 20, noon - 2 p.m., Seigfred Hall, Second Floor): Free and open to the public, this event is an opportunity to view the Art + Design print shops and studios in full production mode, featuring visiting artists and on-site artist talks! Take part in the open studio hours from 12-1 p.m. and lectures from 1-2 p.m., Sept. 20-22. Completed print editions will be displayed in the 2nd floor hallway by Saturday, Sept. 23. Participating Alumni include Kristen Powers Nowlin, Relief; Carrie Lingscheit, Etching; Misty Morrison, Litho; Annette Gaspers, Paper; Bill Fisher, Screen; Charlie Touvell and Chris Monday, Zines. #CUEtip: When filling out the event submission form, there are three options at the bottom of the page: Save, Submit and Discard. Saved entries are added to your personal events management dashboard so you can access and edit them later. Saved events are NOT publicly visible; in order for an event to be viewed on the CUE, you must click 'Submit' and then it will be reviewed by the CUE admins.
