From staff reports
In this message sent to the Ohio University community on Tuesday, April 29, President Roderick J. McDavis announces the achievement of The Promise Lives Campaign goal.
Dear Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Friends of Ohio University,
Earlier today, I had the distinct pleasure and privilege of announcing that a $2 million dollar commitment from John Kopchick, our Goll-Ohio Eminent Scholar and Distinguished Professor of Molecular and Cellular Biology, and his wife Char, our Assistant Dean of Students for Campus Involvement, has elevated The Promise Lives Campaign beyond its goal of $450 million dollars. Not only have we achieved our goal, we did it 14 months ahead of schedule, thanks to the generosity of nearly 75,000 faculty, staff, alumni, and friends!
The tremendous loyalty and generosity of the Bobcat Nation has been demonstrated in a very significant way. Your generosity is paving the way for countless future Bobcats and scripting a great future for Ohio University. It is through your support that the promise of Ohio University truly lives!
While this indeed is an historic moment in Ohio University’s history, please know that our work is not finished. That’s because The Promise Lives Campaign continues through June 2015, and we remain focused on increasing scholarships, endowed professorships and support for our academic programs. I know that Bobcats across the globe will continue to give generously until the end of the campaign to support our students, our faculty and our future.
To the thousands of OHIO supporters who contributed to today’s extraordinary milestone: Thank you! It is through your support that Ohio University will become the nation’s best transformative learning community!
Roderick J. McDavis
