Ohio University Culinary Services offers new meal plan options for faculty and staff. The three meal plan options are Connect 20, Connect 10 and Culinary Passport.
"Although faculty and staff have had the ability to purchase meal plans in the past, our newest options are more tailored to their needs and give them increased flexibility in their daily food choices," said Daniel Pittman, assistant director of auxiliary sales for Culinary Services.
The Connect meal plan options offer 10 or 20 meals for approximately $5.25 a meal while the Passport Plan offers $150 in flex points for $135 a year. Flex points can be used at University dining halls/grab and go's and Culinary Services' cafes, as well at the West 82 food court and Latitude 39 casual dining restaurant.
"Ohio University employees can save time, money and enjoy a delicious variety of food – all from within walking distance from their department," said Pittman.
Brent Auker, Ohio University fire protection engineer is a second-year Connect 20 meal plan holder.
"I can eat on campus and get the most out of my lunch time. The food is healthy and more convenient than cooking and reheating in the office," said Auker.
The meal plan options are valid for an entire academic school year and are loaded directly to the patrons OHIO identification card.
While the meal plans are beneficial to faculty and staff, Culinary Services designed the meal plans to increase interactions between faculty and students.
"Research has shown that a faculty member who shares meals with their students often results in a student learning more, becoming more engaged in the classroom and more likely to excel in their scholarly endeavors," said Pittman.
