President invites OHIO to Student Research and Creative Activity Expo

On Friday, Ohio University President Roderick J, McDavis invited OHIO employees to attend the Student Research and Creative Activity Expo.

Dear Colleagues,

The Ohio University Student Research and Creative Activity Expo reflects our diverse strengths in student research, scholarship and creative activity from all colleges and regional campuses across the university. More than 600 undergraduate, graduate and medical students and postdoctoral fellows participate each spring and showcase the fruits of their imagination, passion, and creativity through a variety of projects. Involving students in research boosts their confidence and inspires them to pursue advanced degrees and professional careers.

I invite you to attend this year's expo, which will be held on Friday, May 13, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at the Convocation Center. I encourage faculty members to bring their classes to the Student Research and Creative Activity Expo to support the efforts of our students. This event can be a valuable motivational tool for students, showing how knowledge gained in class can be applied to create new ideas. Free pizza and beverages will be provided to all attendees until 1:30 p.m.

Every year as I attend this showcase, I am impressed with the questions Ohio University students tackle in their individual and team projects. This year our students will showcase innovations related to oil pipeline corrosion, the psychology of regret, the anatomy of dinosaurs, and an exploration of contemporary American and British dance.
